The US House Foreign Affairs Committee supported the bipartisan H.Res. 488 urging the administration of President Joe Biden to provide Ukraine with ATACMS short-range surface-to-surface ballistic missiles as soon as possible.

Committee Chairman, Republican Congressman Michael McCall said ATACMS missiles are critical to the success of Ukraine’s counteroffensive.

ATACMS have a range of more than 300 km, which allows Ukrainian forces to strike at territories held by the Russians, McCall said.

He also did not rule out that this type of missiles could be used to strike Iranian drones on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

McCall stressed that the White House’s fears about the escalation of the situation in connection with the use of ATACMS are unjustified.

Ukraine promised not to use them for strikes on Russian territory,” the congressman recalled.

The resolution must also be approved by the Senate.

Recall that the UK has already provided Ukraine with Storm Shadow missiles of about the same range.
