A helicopter crashed at the airport of the Malian city of Gao, which was there as part of a UN peacekeeping mission MINUSMA. The incident happened on June 15th.
Published photos from the accident site show that there was a Ukrainian flag on the car. But the report did not indicate that the helicopter was Ukrainian. There has been no comment from the Ukrainian authorities.
It is known that the pilots during the landing approach could not cope with the strong wind. The helicopter hit the airport and was badly damaged.
At the time of the accident, four crew members and 10 passengers were on the helicopter. Due to the accident, 11 people were injured, two of them seriously.
Earlier in Mali, three UN peacekeepers were killed when they exploded with explosives. Five others were seriously injured.
