The Czech leader noted the support for Putin among the Russian population and the number of Russians who support the war and call for it to be extended to other countries as well.

Czech President Petr Pavel believes that all Russians, not just President Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin, are to blame for the aggression against Ukraine. Pavel said this in an interview with Radio Liberty.

“I often hear this argument – that we should see this as Putin’s war, not a Russian war. This argument does not hold water. If you look at the support that Putin enjoys among the Russian population, when we see if how many people support the war, how many people call to spread the war to other countries, we must call this war a Russian war,” said President Pavel.

He also noted that he does not see the opportunity to sit at the negotiating table with the Russian Federation and sees the idea of communication between Western leaders and Putin negatively.

“Honestly, at the moment I’m not very happy to hear from some Western leaders about any meetings with Putin. Honestly, I can’t think of it now. To talk to the leaders that almost every day -aray is lying, distorting information that can shift the blame on the country that they have attacked and committed crimes against. It is very difficult to imagine that someone can sit at the negotiating table with someone, because if you can’t trust the arguments of your counterpart at the negotiating table, how can you hope to reach some kind of reasonable solution?” said Petr Pavel.

The President of the Czech Republic also expressed confidence that all Russians currently living in Western countries should be under the supervision of the special services of these countries.

“I think that in some wars in the past, when the war was going on, the security measures against Russian citizens should have been stricter than under normal conditions. All Russians living in the countries in the West should be monitored more than ever. Because they are “There are citizens of a country waging a war of aggression. I feel sorry for these people, but on the other hand, if we look back, when the Second World War started, all Japanese living in the United States were under strict surveillance,” said the Czech leader, adding that this is the price of war.

Pavel also said that the main results of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are still ahead, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are in the stage of “building operations.”

Recall that earlier the Levada Center published survey data showing that about a third (29%) of Russians believe that the country’s leadership is ready to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine “if necessary” , 60% hold the opposite opinion.
