The Minister of Defense believes that Ukraine is close to its goals of developing a multi-level air defense system.
Ukraine, with the help of NATO allies, has already built a robust air defense system and considers its further development a number one priority. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said this on Thursday, June 15, at a press conference after the NATO-Ukraine Commission, reports Ukrinform.
So, Reznikov answered the question of how far Ukraine is from the goal of building a multi-level air defense system.
“We are not far from this goal. We have already built it (an air defense system – ed.), and now we are building it. We have the most advanced Patriot systems in the world, NASAMS IRIS-T and SAMP / T . The next level is other systems – “Krotali”, “Gepards”, as well as Soviet ones, which we still have, and up to manual MANPADS, that is, systems of various ranges. The very fact of creating a coalition of aircraft, which begins training, but we already know that there will definitely be aircraft as part of the air defense, they say that this system is constantly developing,” said Alexei Reznikov.
He said that on that day, during the meetings in Brussels, another commitment was made by the partner countries to continue providing Ukraine with the necessary missiles and launch systems.
“This month, or in the following months, we will receive the first Hawk systems, which we do not have yet, and the corresponding equipment and missiles for them. So, our air defense is developing. Now I again reiterated to my partners that air defense is the first priority. Our task is for our children to grow up and study under a peaceful sky. Therefore, we need to develop an air defense system, “the Minister of Defense of Ukraine emphasized.
He noted that most of the participants in the NATO-Ukraine Commission spoke about continuing to provide Ukraine with missiles and air defense systems.
Remember, Denmark, the Netherlands, Great Britain and the United States will jointly provide Ukraine with hundreds of missiles for Ukraine’s air defense systems.
