Russia has issued accreditation to the first diplomat from the Taliban government

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a meeting with the Afghan Foreign Minister in China, announced the accreditation of the first diplomat from the Taliban in Russia. This was reported by Interfax.

“Last month, the first Afghan diplomat, sent by the new authorities, came to Moscow and received accreditation to our ministry,” Lavrov said.

According to him, “Afghanistan’s new administration, in general, manages to keep the state afloat,” and the main obstacle to recognizing the government in Kabul remains “insufficient representation.”

Lavrov noted that the new authorities should represent not only the country’s various ethnic groups, national and religious minorities, but also the political forces.

It was noted that as part of the meeting of foreign ministers, Lavrov met with Foreign Minister in the Taliban -formed Afghan government, Amir Khan Muttaki.
