Ship carrying migrants sinks off Greece: 17 dead

In total, there were more than 400 passengers on board the ship. It is known that 104 people were rescued. Others have disappeared.

Off the southern coast of Greece on Wednesday, June 14, a fishing boat carrying migrants sank, killing at least 17 people. This was reported by Ekathimerini.

The incident occurred approximately 75 kilometers southwest of the Greek region of the Peloponnese. The ship is probably heading to Italy from Libya.

It is known that in total there are more than 400 passengers on board the ship. It is known that 104 people were rescued. Four of them were hospitalized for hypothermia.

The rescued migrants were sent to the Greek city of Kalamanta. And six coast guard ships, a military frigate and a Greek Air Force helicopter, as well as several private vessels, were dispatched to search for the missing.

Recall that approximately 600 migrants were rescued off the coast of Italy.

Earlier in Italy, a ship with migrants sank, killing 62 people.
