The Rashist fired at Ukrainian prisoners for refusing to communicate with him in Russian. This was announced today, June 12, by the press services of the SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
It is noted that Yudin, in early April 2023, acting as one of the leaders of this military unit, he arrived at the location of the Russian checkpoint in the temporarily occupied Energodar in Zaporozhye.
Then on the territory of this Russian checkpoint there were Ukrainian prisoners of war, whom the occupiers wanted to involve in the dismantling of fortifications, the SBU notes. – However, Yudin gave another order – to line up the captured defenders of Ukraine for interrogation.
According to the investigation, Yudin was primarily interested in the personal data of the defenders of Ukraine and the circumstances of his capture. At the same time, he demanded to answer his questions exclusively in Russian.
One of the prisoners answered him in Ukrainian. After that, the rashist took the man to the utility building on the territory of the checkpoint and, threatening with a weapon, ordered him to stand facing the wall, and then fired a pistol at the victim’s right leg, as a result of which he received a gunshot wound to the knee joint.
The Rashist repeated his demand to speak to him only in Russian, but this time the Ukrainian refused to comply with the hostile order. Then Yudin fired another shot close to the prisoner’s head, but this did not make the Ukrainian respond in Russian,” the SBU notes. “After that, the attacker took the victim to other prisoners and threatened that he would shoot them when he heard the Ukrainian language again.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the SBU investigators informed Yudin of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war). The Office of the Prosecutor General notes that Yudin’s actions are contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War of August 12, 1949.
Comprehensive measures continue to punish the attacker for his crimes, the SBU notes.
