Matteo Zuppi intends to speak with representatives of the Russian government and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Pope Francis’ special envoy, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, plans to visit the Russian capital after his trip to Ukraine. He said this on the air of Rai TV channel on Monday, June 12.

According to Zuppi, the trip to Moscow is “the second part of the peace plan” developed in the Vatican. He intends to speak with representatives of the government of the Russian Federation and the Russian Orthodox Church.

According to Zuppi, now the main thing for Ukraine is “peace and justice.”

“There is no peace without justice. Without justice, peace will not last. Justice without peace will be injustice. On the one hand, justice must be restored, and on the other hand, peace must be established. We believe in this. There should be peace and justice,” the cardinal said.

Remember, on June 6, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Mateo Zuppi, who visited Ukraine. Also, the Vatican envoy talked with the head of the UGCC and some officials, in particular, Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets – they discussed the deportation of Ukrainian children. Zuppi also visited Bucha, where he honored the memory of the dead.
