On the very first day after the disaster, the Attorney General sent a corresponding appeal to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court regarding the investigation of this disaster, and work has already begun.
It is very important that representatives of international justice saw the consequences of this Russian terrorist attack with their own eyes and heard for themselves that Russian terror continues. And the most cynical and harsh shelling of the flooded territory, the territory of evacuation, continues,” the president said.
Zelensky added that the Ukrainian authorities will contribute to an objective investigation and provide full access to the affected territories and all information.
On June 10, a mission of the International Criminal Court arrived in the Kherson region. Representatives of the ISS arrived to prepare for the conduct of investigative actions to undermine the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, said Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin.
Ukraine applied to the ISS on June 6, the day the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir was destroyed. The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine accuses the Russian occupation forces of another war crime – blowing up a dam, which is a civilian object.
Kakhovskaya HPP has been occupied since February 2022. Russia officially denies the explosion.
