This was announced today, June 10, on the website of the Office of the President.
The declaration states that:
- Canada remains unwavering in its commitment to the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders;
- The people of Ukraine can count on Canada to continue its political, financial, humanitarian and military support for as long as it takes, both individually and through international cooperation within the G7, NATO, the UN and any other format where Canada can contribute its weighty contribution;
- Canada supports Ukraine’s initiative to achieve a just and sustainable peace based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and endorses the key principles of the Ukrainian peace formula;
- In the future, Canada will continue to focus its support on Ukraine’s greatest needs, with particular attention to the issues identified in the formula. Canada is ready to work with Ukraine and other countries to ensure the widest possible international participation in achieving the goals of the peace formula, in particular by holding a Global Peace Summit in the near future;
- both countries also reaffirm the crucial role of the Black Sea Grain Initiative in the fight against world hunger and the need to ensure its continuous and unimpeded functioning;
- Ukraine and Canada reaffirmed their support for the investigations by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, which are a step towards securing accountability, and take into account the arrest warrants issued by the court;
- Ukraine and Canada agree on the need to increase our collective pressure on Russia due to further sanctions in order to weaken Russia’s ability to continue its illegal war of conquest.
