The conversation between the leaders of Ukraine and Poland will take place before the latter’s meeting with Scholz and Macron.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will have a telephone conversation with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda. The leaders of the two countries plan to discuss the agenda of the meeting between the leaders of France, Germany and Poland. Zelensky announced this on Saturday, June 10, at a press conference in Kyiv.
“Tomorrow I will talk to the President of Poland. I think he will tell me what their meeting is about,” he said.
The President of Ukraine thanked the Prime Minister of Canada for the “position of a strategic partner.” He also expressed hope that “colleagues are thinking about how to accelerate Ukraine’s accession to NATO.”
“Or not. Let’s see,” the president summed up.
Remember, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Polish President Andrzej Duda will travel to Paris on June 12 for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting will focus on Ukraine’s aspirations for NATO membership and security guarantees from allies ahead of the Alliance’s summit in Vilnius in July.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky is demanding a clear algorithm for Ukraine’s entry into NATO. He also named the condition of his participation in the NATO summit in Vilnius.
