About 20% of displaced people will not return home – poll

The number of IDPs registered in Ukraine reached 3.6 million as of April 30. The International Organization for Migration estimated the number of IDPs at the beginning of May at 5.1 million people.

Almost 20% of those who were forced to leave their homes and seek refuge in other regions of Ukraine do not wish to return home. On Thursday, June 8, the sociological group Rating wrote referring to a survey.

They noticed that most of those who were forced to relocate during the war came from the eastern regions of our country (60%).

“According to the survey, 75% of displaced people expressed their intention to return home: 12% – in the near future, 14% – want to return, but will wait, 49% – will return, but after the war. .”

At the same time, 19% said that they will not return home, and this percentage is growing dynamically: compared to last summer, those who do not plan to return have doubled,” the report said.

The survey was conducted on June 1-2, 2023 among 1,000 respondents in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbass, as well as in territories where there was no Ukrainian mobile communication during the survey. The error of representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0.95: no more than 3.1%.

It was previously reported that the majority of Ukrainians (87%) are not ready for any territorial concessions to the Russian Federation, even if it means the continuation of the war.
