“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that, at the request of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bucharest was informed today, June 8, 2023, about the decision of the Romanian authorities to reduce the diplomatic and technical -administrative staff of the representation of the Russian Federation in Romania by limiting its number to the level, close to the number of diplomatic and technical-administrative personnel of the Romanian representation in the Russian Federation,” the release said.
The expulsion from Romania awaits 21 diplomats and 30 technical and administrative staff.
In fact, 11 diplomats and 29 staff should remain at the embassy.
In this regard, the Russian Ambassador to Romania Valery Kuzmin said that the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania to reduce the staff of the Russian embassy in Bucharest “aims to destroy the relations between the states.”
In his opinion, “Bucharest acted on the instructions of the aggressive NATO bloc.”
