Due to the undermining of the Dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the Nizhnedneprovsky National Park in the Kherson region was flooded.

This was announced today, June 7, by the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
It is noted that for today, June 7:
- the water level near the islands has risen by 3 m on an area of more than 77 thousand hectares;
- the intensity of flooding is decreasing, but due to the destruction of the dam, water has not yet arrived;
- landslides are observed, the products of destruction of rocks are carried by water, buildings and equipment of the national park suffer.
The high water has touched the lands of the Emerald Web and the Ramsar Sites, which are of world importance due to their unique biodiversity. Flora and fauna NNP “Nizhnedneprovsky” – 120 protected valuable species. As a result of Russian terror, animals are dying in the National Park, and their habitats and breeding grounds are disappearing, the ministry notes.
It is noted that 60 species of birds subject to protection have been noted on the territory of the NNP, and this park is also an important link in one of the main migratory routes of birds – the Dnieper.
