The Biden administration is preparing to send MLRS as part of a larger package of military aid to Ukraine, which could be announced early next week.
The United States of America has approved the transfer of the MLRS long-range missile system to Ukraine. Officially, it could be announced early next week. On Friday, May 27, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The publication states that multiple rocket launch systems, or MLRS, have been a top request from Ukrainian politicians and diplomats in recent weeks.
Pentagon sources also say the MLRS move is part of a larger military aid package for Ukraine.
It is a launching system on an armored light truck, capable of hitting targets using guided ammo at a distance of up to 300 kilometers. MLRS is distinguished by the destructive power of shells, caliber and range of fire.
Earlier it was reported that the Pentagon had signed a contract worth $ 687 million to buy the Stinger man-portable air defense system to replenish stocks that were significantly reduced after aid to Ukraine.
Since the end of February, the United States has supplied Ukraine with nearly 24,000 tons of military equipment and ammunition. Heavy aircraft, both military and Pentagon charters, made 486 flights to Europe. In addition, 20 ships, 50 trains and 1.5 thousand trailers were involved.
