Instead of responding to the catastrophe wrought by the Russian occupiers, the UN celebrates the Russian Language Day.
Against the backdrop of the Russians destroying the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, the United Nations, whose goal is to maintain and strengthen peace, is celebrating the Day of the Russian Language. About that said on the organization’s Twitter.
“Every year on June 6, as part of the program to support and develop multilingualism and cultural diversity, the UN celebrates the Day of the Russian Language. The Russian language is one of the six official languages of the UN,” said of the message.
The organization also retweeted a post by Russian UN representatives on Twitter, which read: “The Sustainable Development Goals are a common call for action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people are living in peace and prosperity.”
The UN’s offensive tweet sparked outrage among Ukrainians.
Dmitry Lubinets, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, also responded to the organization’s message.
He noted that even the international organization of the United Nations, designed to maintain peace in the world, allows the Russians to feel impunity.
“Do the UN representatives really not understand that by doing this they are encouraging the Russians to act even more cruelly, rudely, mercilessly and irresponsibly. Because the terrorist country has already shown that it does not care about all the international agreements, signed conventions and standards. ,” said the Ombudsman.
Lubinets emphasized that Russia does not care what day it kills and destroys, if it is convinced that it will not suffer any punishment.
“But he has to answer everything fully! Russia has no place in the UN Security Council and the UN as a whole,” the Ombudsman insisted.
Recall that on the night of June 6, the Russians blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Today about 80 settlements are under the threat of flooding. The authorities are already carrying out the evacuation, in the critical zone on the right bank of the Dnieper there are 16 thousand people. Ukraine initiated a case under the ecocide article due to the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
