The movement of Moldova towards the EU does not depend on the events in Transnistria, the European diplomat said.
The situation in unrecognized Transnistria will not prevent Moldova from joining the European Union. This was said by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, European Pravda reports.
“Moldova’s movement towards the EU does not depend on the events in Transnistria,” he said upon arriving at the summit in the Moldovan village of Bulboaca.
Borrell recalled that Cyprus will be able to join the EU, having territorial problems (the island is divided into the Republic of Cyprus and the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus – ed.).
“Moldova can do it too,” added the European diplomat, noting that for this the country must continue to implement reforms.
It will be remembered that the European Union has previously doubled the macro-financial assistance to Moldova. The country will receive 295 million euros.
