There was an alarm, people ran for cover. Shelter just did not open and all. People knocked, and at that moment it flew in, – Yaroslav, a resident of Kiev, whose wife died on the street when she and her child could not get into the shelter, told the Public.
The wreckage fell 10 minutes after the air raid alert. In addition to Yaroslav’s wife, two more people died, including a child, who also fled for shelter. More than ten people were injured. Debris fell on a children’s clinic, nearby buildings were damaged.
The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, said that specialists had gone to the polyclinic in the Desnyansky district to find out why there was no access to the shelter.
He called it the responsibility of the head of the medical institution and the head of the district. The KSCA recently commented on the problem with shelters in the capital as follows: “the issue is not so much about shelters, but about the desire to go down there.”
The guard allegedly made excuses that he had a bad leg and could not walk quickly, a Radio Liberty correspondent was told. People say there are no more shelters in the area.
