This summer, Ukraine may face a certain shortage of electricity. However, disconnection of consumers will try to avoid. This was announced by the head of the board of NPC Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky on the air of Radio Liberty.

The shutdown of consumers that we saw in the winter is the last priority step that we, as the operator of the power system, can take to balance and keep the power system intact, Kudritsky said.
He noted that there are other tools to avoid disconnection of consumers. For example, Kyiv can import electricity from Europe. The country may also include additional generating capacity, such as those that use natural gas. In summer, CHPs are used little, but additional generation for gas can be turned on, if necessary.
I would not talk about some inevitable shutdowns, let alone blackouts. The situation will be really tense during the summer in terms of the balance in the energy system, but we will use all the tools to ensure that no power outages of consumers during this period are allowed,” he said.
According to him, Ukrenergo has set itself the goal of avoiding shutdowns due to the fact that there is a shortage in the energy system. At the same time, disconnections can periodically occur due to damage in the networks.
