State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the current actions of the Russian Federation prove Moscow’s irresponsibility on the issue of nuclear weapons.
The United States has condemned the agreements between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons (NW) on the territory of Belarus. This is what US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a briefing in Washington.
“We strongly condemn these agreements. This is the latest example of Russia’s irresponsible behavior since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than a year ago,” he said.
The official added that Washington has clearly emphasized to Russia: the use of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons in the war he unleashed “will lead to serious consequences.”
The United States now sees no signs of Russia preparing to use nuclear weapons and sees no need to make changes in the location of its own strategic nuclear forces, the US State Department spokesman added.
As you know, on Thursday, May 25, the defense ministers of Russia and Belarus signed documents on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus.
Recall, the official Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said that Russian nuclear weapons have already begun to move to Belarus within the framework of bilateral agreements.
