The media spoke about previously unknown episodes of his life path: from a cadet of the Odessa land through the special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, amazing special operations behind enemy lines and severe injuries, and to the famous black chair in the military intelligence office of Ukraine, reminiscent of a museum.
There are people who love collectivism and live by it. Budanov, on the contrary, is quite independent. Always studied well. One of the most daring special operations, which was carried out by a group of operatives led by Budanov in the occupied Crimea in 2016, was told by the then head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Valery Kondratyuk.
Then, according to him, the military intelligence of Ukraine received information about the overturning of combat helicopters by the enemy towards Dzhankoy and decided to destroy them.

During that operation, Budanov’s group collided with the Vympel, an elite special unit of the FSB, after a few minutes of battle, destroyed the enemy and left the occupied Crimean territory without loss.
Because of fear and hatred for Budanov, Muscovites have already organized attempts on his life more than a dozen times. For example, in 2019, a Russian killer planted explosives under his personal car, which, fortunately, detonated prematurely.
Budanov talks about the events in the same balanced way, as well as about the injuries received during special operations in the Donbass. There were three. One of them is heavy: after the explosion of an anti-personnel mine, one of the debris hit the heart.
It can’t be taken out of the body, it’s not safe. My back and neck were pierced. I went out through the front line on my own, on adrenaline, about 5 km, and then fell exhausted, – said NV Budanov. – The wound is severe, but in principle it is possible to live.
