States believe that Russia lost 100,000 people in the Bakhmut area, of which more than 20,000 died.
The United States believes that the losses of the Russians in their attempt to attack the Bakhmut region of the Donetsk region are too high a price. This was said by the coordinator of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, reports Ukrinform.
“This offensive (in Bakhmut – ed.) really cost Russia a lot. And, as I said, it became a meat grinder for them in a certain way,” said the White House spokesman .
Kirby noted that the estimates announced by Washington about Russian losses near Bakhmut in early May were accurate. However, according to him, since that time, the Russians have lost strength every day.
He also drew attention to the conflicting relationship between the head of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In early May, the United States reported that Russia had lost more than 100,000 troops in the Bakhmut area in the past five months, including more than 20,000 killed in action, nearly half of whom were PIK Wagner soldiers. Ukrainian intelligence confirms US estimate of Russian casualties in Bakhmut.
To be noted, according to Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar, there is a decrease in the intensity of the fighting in the Bakhmut area. The Russians are replacing the units. They tried to strengthen the flanks, however, the Ukrainian defenders continued to advance.
