Russian President Vladimir Putin is “deeply concerned” but does not plan to hold a special meeting of the Security Council.
Moscow is “deeply concerned” about the “attack of Ukrainian saboteurs” in the Belgorod region and plans to do everything possible to prevent it from happening again in the future. This is what Kremlin speaker Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on Tuesday, May 23.
“Certainly, what happened yesterday causes deep concern, it confirms once again that the ‘Ukrainian militants’ continue their activities against our country… It requires a great effort from us. to prevent those this interference in the future,” he said.
At the same time, Peskov said that the President of Russia Vladimir Putin is not planning to hold a special meeting with the permanent members of the Security Council because of the events in the Belgorod region.
“No, he will not hold a special meeting (of the Security Council). This week, at the end of the week, a regular meeting will probably take place, but there are no special plans,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
Answering the question of whether it is known the number of “saboteurs” who entered the Belgorod region and how many of them still remain in the region, Peskov said that he could not provide such numbers.
“Now our special services are doing this, they know the identity, the number and so on. Once they know, it is possible to question them,” he concluded.
It will be remembered that since yesterday in the Belgorod region “anti-terrorist operation” continues. This was announced after the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) and the Legion of Freedom of Russia launched an operation to free Russia from the regime of Vladimir Putin.
Later, Ukrainian intelligence said that a “safety zone” had been created on Russian territory to protect Ukrainians.
