Thus, Sinan Ogan made the opposition candidate Kılıçdaroğlu suffer in the upcoming second round.
On Monday, May 22, the third candidate in the presidential election in Turkey, Sinan Ogan, supported the current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who in the first round was several percentage points ahead of his closest competitor, Kemal Kilicdaroglu. It was reported by the Voice of America.
It was noted that in this way Ogan tormented the opposition candidate Kılıçdaroglu in the upcoming second round.
Sinan Ogan, a staunch nationalist who was little known to the general public before the campaign began, won 5.2% of the vote in the May 14 presidential election.
According to Ogan, Kilicdaroglu “failed to convince us of (his vision) of the future”, while the decision to support Erdogan was based on the principle of “firm struggle (against) terrorism”.
Analysts say Ogan’s support should help Erdogan, but it could also lead to alienation among his supporters.
Remember, in the first round of the election, Erdogan won 49.51% of the vote, and the opposition leader Kilicdaroglu – 44.88%. The second round of presidential elections will be held on Sunday, May 28.
