The war in Ukraine entered the critical stage – Sunak

The West is on Ukraine’s side, Putin must know we will not back down, the British Prime Minister insisted.

Russia’s war against Ukraine is entering a critical phase. This is what British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, speaking in Parliament after the G7 summit, reports Sky News.

He said he welcomed increased restrictions against exports that help the “Russian war machine”, referring to the UK’s imposition of further sanctions in the days of the summit.

“The Russian military is failing on the battlefield, their domestic economy is failing, and there are more and more deplorable sanctions,” Sunak said.

The British Prime Minister also emphasized that the West is on the side of Ukraine, “independence must win.” “Putin must know that we will not back down,” he said.

The Prime Minister also confirmed the UK’s support for Ukraine.

“The fact that you saw the G7 leaders shoulder to shoulder with President Zelensky in Hiroshima is a strong signal to the whole world: we will support Ukraine as long as necessary,” Sunak stressed.

On May 19, Britain announced a new wave of sanctions against Russia. The sanctions list includes 86 Russians and companies related to Russia’s energy, metallurgical, defense, transport and financial sectors, which are used to support the “war machine”.
