The newest release of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), “Secret Invasion” premieres on Disney+ scheduled for June 21st. The series follows Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) upon discovering a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury is joined by his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who have set up his life on Earth. Together, they race against time to stop an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.
Directed by Ali Selim, “Secret Invasion” features a cast already known by MCU fans, as well as new names making their debut in the Marvel Universe. Know who they are!
Samuel L. Jackson – Nick Fury
Veteran in Marvel Studios productions, Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury, being the great protagonist of “Secret Invasion”. The actor, who has been present since Phase 1 of the MCU, participated in several films by the studio, such as “Iron Man” (2008), “Captain America: The First Avenger” (2011), “The Avengers” (2012), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015), “Captain Marvel” (2019), among many others. His most recent appearance was in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019).
Cobie SmuldersMaria Hill
Another person well known to MCU fans is Cobie Smulderswho made her MCU debut in “The Avengers” (2012), playing Maria Hill, Nick Fury’s faithful sidekick and former deputy director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Ben Mendelsohn – Talos
You might have forgotten about him, but the Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn has been part of the MCU for a few years now. First seen in “Captain Marvel” (2019), Ben plays Talos, a Skrull who was looking for a way to reunite with his family. Later, in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019), we discover that he was impersonating Nick Fury at his own request.
Martin FreemanEverett Ross
the british actor martin freeman had his first appearance in “Black Panther” (2018) as Everett Ross, a CIA agent and ally of the hero. Far from the Marvel Universe, Freeman is famous for playing various geek characters, such as Bilbo Baggins in the “The Hobbit” franchise (2012).
Emilia Clarke — G’iah
Emilia Clarke is a British actress who gained wide recognition due to her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the series “Game of Thrones” (2011). Marking her Marvel Universe debut, she brings to life G’iah, daughter of Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), which was first introduced to audiences as a child in “Captain Marvel” (2019). Now, as an adult and resentful of her father’s distance and the disregard for humans, she ends up joining the Skrull’s rebel group.
Kingsley Ben-Adir — Gravik
Another newcomer to the MCU who, coincidentally, is also British is actor Kingsley Ben-Adir. Famous for playing the American activist Malcolm X in “One Night in Miami” (2020), he arrives in the Marvel Universe to give life to the villain Gravik, head of a faction of Skrull extremists who are tired of asking for help.
Olivia ColmanSonya Falsworth
The actress Olivia Colman comes to the MCU as British intelligence agent Sonya Falsworth, MI6, who is tasked with protecting England’s national security interests in the face of the Skrull invasion. colman is known for her notorious work as Queen Elizabeth in the series “The Crown” (2016), in addition to the films “The Favourite” (2018), “The Lost Daughter” (2021) and “My Father” (2020).
Other names that have also been confirmed in the cast of Secret Invasion are: Don Cheadleinterpreter of Rhodey Rhodes (War Machine), Dermot Mulroney as President of the United States and Charlayne Woodard as Nick’s wife, Priscilla Fury.
