Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, told German broadcaster ZDF that the EU is serious about ending Russia’s sanctions evasion.
And that is why in the eleventh package of sanctions we have more than 90 companies around the world, in respect of which we have clear evidence that they violate sanctions, that is, they supply sanctioned goods directly to Russia from the European Union, bypassing through third countries,” noted she.
Of these companies, von der Leyen said “about eight” are registered in China.
As is known, within the framework of the project of the next, 11 EU sanctions package, for the first time proposed a new mechanism with third countries that are considered involved in circumventing sanctions against Russia, helping it to import dual-use goods.
The EU plans to create a multi-year macro-finance package for Ukraine. This was stated in Japan by the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, during a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The European Union intends to develop a new financial assistance package after 2023.
This package “will reflect the EU’s long-term commitment to help Ukraine.” At the same time, the EU representative assured that military assistance would be increased, including the delivery of ammunition and the creation of a coalition for the supply of combat aircraft.
