According to Georgian media, the wedding of Ekaterina Vinokurova’s (Lavrova’s) husband’s brother will take place at the Kvareli Lake Resort hotel in the city of Kakheti.
From the very morning, Georgian activists began to gather near the hotel, who did not agree with the visits to the country by relatives of the top officials of the aggressor country.
Subsequently, clashes broke out between them and law enforcement officers. The police started beating journalists and confiscating mobile phones.
Special forces were sent to the hotel. The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the detention of 16 people. The protesters claim that the police take away their mobile phones with records on which a motorcade of guests from Russia passes through the hotel.
The protesters demand that Russian citizens leave the hotel immediately.
According to media reports, the wedding of Ekaterina Vinokurova (Lavrova)’s brother-in-law will be celebrated today at the Kvareli Lake Resort complex. The brother of Russian businessman Alexander Vinokurov, who is the son-in-law of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, previously met with his chosen one in Tbilisi.
The hotel initially denied that members of the family of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry had stayed there, but then they stopped answering journalists’ questions.
This is not the first time that famous people from Russia have been expelled from Georgia. Two years ago, Moscow-based journalist Vladimir Pozner, on a flight to a birthday party, was forced to leave Tbilisi amid protests.
