The US introduced a new package of sanctions against Russia

The new US sanctions are aimed at Russia’s defense industry, as well as its mining, technology and metallurgical sectors.

On May 19, the United States of America introduced a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. This was announced by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

“Our collective efforts cut off Russia from key resources needed to equip its armed forces and severely limit the revenue the Kremlin receives to fund its war machine,” he said.

Sanctions were imposed on 22 individuals and 104 legal entities in more than 20 countries. They are directed against those who try to evade or avoid sanctions and other economic measures against the Russian Federation.

The company Trade Initiative Establishment operates in Liechtenstein, engaged in the purchase of equipment for the production of semiconductors and nanotechnologies for Russian organizations. They are under US restrictions. The Liechtenstein-based Trade Initiative Establishment (TIE) has been buying semiconductor and nanotechnology manufacturing equipment for US-listed Russian entities since at least 2012.

Also under United States restrictions are Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko; Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov; Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova; Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin; Moscow region children’s ombudsman Ksenia Mishonova; Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation – Head of the Control Department of the President Dmitry Shalkov; rector of St. Petersburg Mining University Vladimir Litvinenko.

In addition, the US Treasury imposed sanctions against the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the Russian State Geological Prospecting University. Sergo Ordzhonikidze, against the 223rd and 224th flight detachments of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The new US sanctions are reportedly aimed at the Russian Federation’s defense industry, as well as its mining, technology and metallurgical sectors. More than 200 individuals and legal entities, ships and aircraft fell under the blockade of property.

Sanctions were also imposed against nine organizations registered in China for relations with the Russian Federation.

Recall that today the United States announced new export restrictions against the Russian Federation and Belarus.

Canada and Australia have also introduced actions against the Russian Federation.
