The special service has collected an evidence base on the deputy commander of the airborne troops from the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Anatoly Konchevoi, who is participating in the war against Ukraine. It was on his orders that the invaders temporarily seized the Gostomel airport at the beginning of a full-scale invasion. This was reported in the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
It was during the fighting at this airfield that invaders from Russia destroyed the world’s largest Ukrainian aircraft AN-225 Mriya. To storm the airport, the general used special forces units of the airborne troops and army aviation of Russia.
This Russian top officer is part of the Russian high military command; since 2019, he has organized the training of enemy paratroopers in Russia and Belarus. The invaders learned how to fire and capture strategic ground targets in Ukraine.
The SBU investigators informed the final officer of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and Part 2 of Art. 28 and part 2 of Art. 437 (planning, preparation, initiation and conduct of aggressive war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The enemy faces 15 years in prison. Now the special service is carrying out comprehensive measures to bring the attacker to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
Recall that in April, law enforcement officers reported a suspicion of official negligence to the former director of the Antonov State Enterprise, who was also involved in the destruction of Mechta. The official, despite the reservation of the authorities, did not ensure the relocation of the aircraft to a safe place.
