The German Bild writes about this on May 18.
According to the publication, over the past two days, Wagner managed to break through to the city’s event occupied by Ukrainian troops.
Now Ukraine controls only one side of the western street of the city, writes the German edition.
Then a few more garages, and then two kilometers of open area to the next village, which is located by Ukrainians, called Ivanovskoye, writes Bild.
Ukraine still controls about 20 buildings, or less than 1% of the city’s area, the report says.
Parts of the Ukrainian army at that time continued their attempts to repel the flanks of the city.
Rakurs previously wrote that in the area of Bakhmut, the Defense Forces advanced in places by 1,700 meters in a day.
During the fighting, our units, despite the fact that now there is no advantage in personnel, shells and equipment, continue to advance on the flanks. The distance for these days from 150 to 1700 meters was covered, – said the representative of the Eastern group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Cherevaty.
Meanwhile, the leader of the PKK “Wagner” Prigozhin again accused regular Russian troops of surrendering positions near Bakhmut. According to him, units of the Russian Defense Ministry retreated 570 meters to the north of Bakhmut, in the area of the villages of Sacco and Vanzetti captured in February.
In this regard, he turned to the head of the General Staff Gerasimov and the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Shoigu with a request to hold the flanks “at least a few more days.”
Ukrainian military publications note that in recent days the resistance of the Russians on the flanks has intensified (“every meter has to be gnawed out”) and write that Prigozhin’s statements that the morph units go without a fight are made “for domestic consumers.”
Prigozhin has repeatedly accused Russian troops of fleeing from positions on the flanks and announced the threat of encirclement of Bakhmut by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, other Russian sources say that the “Wagnerites” handed over poorly equipped positions to the Russian military, and left some positions without warning the army units, which allowed the breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The fact that the “Wagnerites” were the first to leave their positions on the flanks was also stated by Ukrainian officers.
