Earlier, Russian TASS reported, citing sources in Turkey, that the issue of extending the grain agreement has now been decided at the political level, and there is a possibility of reaching an agreement.
“In fact, today the negotiations on the extension at the technical level have been completed. The issue has now been resolved at the political level. There is certainty of the extension of the agreements,” the source said.
It is also known that the second round of presidential elections in Turkey will be held on May 28. In this regard, the current head of state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, “is important to get the continuation of the agreement, including from a point of view of image.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the last ship under the grain deal left Ukraine. According to Moscow, the agreement will expire on Thursday, May 18.
