Yuriy Ignat, Speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, said this on the air of the national telethon, commenting on the message of the American CNN television channel about possible damage to the air defense system.
Patriot during the Russian rocket attack on Kyiv on the night of May 16.
Don’t worry about the fate of the Petriot, Ignat urged.
The Air Force speaker emphasized that the Petriot complex consists of:
- command post, where combat service sits and monitors air targets, receives information about the air situation in its area of responsibility and works out on air targets. Can work in manual, semi-automatic and automatic modes;
- radar, which provides information and is located at a distance;
- up to eight launchers, each of which has four transport and launch containers, which, respectively, are also located at a certain distance and already provide combat work – missile launches.
This is the Petriot. To destroy the system with some kind of “Dagger” – well, it’s impossible. Therefore, everything that they tell there – let it remain in the archive of their propaganda, – Ignat emphasized.
He noted that the Patriot complex shot down missiles over Kiev in automatic mode.
It is the automatic mode of operation of the Petriot that allows it to shoot down air targets without human intervention, as was the case last night. Therefore, automation is actually the speed of decision-making, the identification of targets and the use of weapons,” Ignat emphasized.
He also explained why the air force had previously refused to comment on the statements of the Russian invaders about the alleged destruction of the Petriot.
Yesterday we said without comment – we do not comment on the liar Konashenkov, who “destroyed” the entire composition of our aviation eight times in a row. If we had as many aircraft as they “destroyed”, we probably would have won long ago,” Ignat noted.
