The news was published on the official website of the manufacturer.
Hensoldt, a recognized specialist in the field of radar systems, will supply TRML-4D to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
The order value is more than 100 million euros. The radars will be delivered to Ukraine in the second half of 2023 upon completion of the training of Ukrainian operators.
As part of military assistance to Ukraine, four TRML-4D radars were transferred, the first of which arrived in October 2022.
Military reported that in January 2023, Hensoldt received orders for TRML-4D radars under a contract as part of the supply of IRIS-T SLM air defense systems.
TRML-4D is the latest version of the medium-range C-band radar of the TRML family, developed by Hensoldt in 2018. This radar is the main means of detecting air targets as part of the IRIS-T SLM air defense system.
The mobile radar is equipped with an electronically scanned active phased array antenna (AFAR) based on gallium nitride (GaN) transceiver modules.
The TRML-4D combines digital beamforming with pulse-Doppler radar to detect low-observable aerial targets such as suspended helicopters or low-flying cruise missiles.
According to the developer, the radar allows you to simultaneously detect and track up to 1500 different air targets at ranges from 0.01 to 250 km with a maximum detection height of 30 km.
Fighter aircraft can be escorted at a distance of up to 150 km, supersonic missiles at a distance of up to 60 km.
