This is reported by Downing Street – the press service of the British government.

Prime Minister Sunak and Prime Minister Rutte have agreed that they will work to build an international coalition to provide Ukraine with air combat capabilities, providing support in everything from training [пілотів] to the purchase of F-16 fighter jets, the statement said.

They added that the British Prime Minister reaffirmed his belief that Ukraine’s rightful place in NATO, and the leaders agreed on the importance of long-term allied security assistance to Ukraine to ensure they can deter future attacks.

The office of the British Prime Minister also said that during the summit, Sunak also met with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The Prime Minister briefed Ursula von der Leyen on President Zelensky’s visit to the UK. The leaders agreed on the need to continue to support Ukraine at this turning point, including because of sanctions against Russia. They agreed that this week’s G7 summit in Japan would be a moment of show of unity and international support for Ukraine, a Downing Street spokesman said.

The G7 summit will be held May 19-21 in Hiroshima.
