Find out about the somewhat traumatic past of some of the figures featured in the Twilight saga
The Writer’s Creativity Stephenie Meyerbrought to bookstores in 2005 the first book of a saga of four titles that follows the unlikely romance of the human Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen, who are involved in a love triangle with the werewolf Jacob Black in ‘Twilight’.
The story, which was turned into a film franchise that had its premieres scheduled in theaters between 2008 and 2015, also presents the different clans of vampires existing in mythology, as well as bringing a unique vision to werewolves.
But, do you know what the stories of all these creatures are? Despite being a work about love that arises in the midst of different realities, there is a lot of drama and somewhat traumatic narratives for most of the figures. With that in mind, we’ve gathered below 5 characters who had dark origins. Check out!
1. Alice
Alice’s past is not as optimistic as the vampire’s personality. That’s because, she could predict the murder of her own mother, but she couldn’t prevent the fatality.
In addition, Alice’s father tried to take her life, and even though he couldn’t, he deprived her of her freedom by admitting her to a psychiatric hospital. There, she lost her caretaker as he tried to protect her from James, as well as having her memory deteriorate, until she lost even more of her memories when she was turned into a vampire.
2. Rosalie

Rosalie was left for dead in the street by her fiance, who viciously assaulted her with the help of her friends. She suffered a lot before receiving a new opportunity at life when she was turned into a vampire by Carlisle, being able to take revenge on everyone who hurt her.
3. Esme

Esme’s origin is covered in “Twilight – Official Illustrated Series Guide”. The book shows that Esme was married to an abusive man, so when she had her first child, she decided to run away to keep him safe, but despite her attempt, the baby ended up dying days after being born.
With that, Esme lost the meaning of living, deciding to take her own life. Very hurt, she received a new opportunity when Carlisle offers the transformation, which she accepts, becoming the vampire’s life partner.
4. Bree Tanner

Bree had an abusive father who ended up taking the character’s mother’s life while she was just a child. Bree managed to escape her father’s clutches for a while, living in the open until she was forced into Victoria’s army, where she ended up having her life taken.
5. Alec and Jane

Twin brothers Alec and Jane have been accused of being witches due to the psychic abilities they both possess. As a result, they were condemned to be burned at the stake, only to be saved by Aro after their bodies caught fire.
The duo went through the transformation when they were around 12 or 13 years old, becoming high-ranking members of the Volturi with pain as the culmination of what they had known so far.
