On May 15, NABU detectives detained the chairman of the Ukrainian Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, allegedly while receiving a bribe of almost $3 million. and searched the houses of other judges. According to the investigation, Knyazev received money from people acting in the interests of the oligarch Zhevago.
Information in some media that undue benefits could be obtained from people acting in the interests of the entrepreneur is completely untrue. Zhevago never gave and could not give such instructions to anyone. He insistently asks the media not to disseminate unconfirmed information, not to become a tool of manipulation and not to involve him in cases to which he has nothing to do, – Zhevago’s press service said.
The oligarch denies the connection of this case with the decision of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court of April 19, 2023 in the case of recognizing the legality of the acquisition in 2002 of a stake in the Poltava mining and processing plant by Ferrexpo, one of whose shareholders is Zhevago.
We are interested in a transparent investigation of this case in order to remove all suspicions and confirm our reputation in Ukraine and among foreign partners,” the businessman assured.
At the same time, during today’s briefing, representatives of NABU and SAPO indicated that a shadow office actually operated in the Supreme Court, through which it was possible to “solve” the case at any level of the judicial system in exchange for a bribe.
Recall that the Supreme Court recently made a decision that helped Akhmetov close the first episode of the Rotterdam+ case. The Supreme Court is also considering a decision to lift sanctions against Russian oligarchs, including Giner and Krupchak.
