The Turkish leader has expressed hope that he will be re-elected in the first round, however, given the latest vote counting results, this is unlikely.

In Turkey, according to the latest data, votes from 97.97% of ballot boxes have been counted. According to the counting results, incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is leading with 49.25% of the vote, Anadolu Agency reports.

Meanwhile, Erdogan gave a speech to voters in the evening, noting that he and his team hope that the country will decide on its next president in the first round, Nurriyet reports.

“In the election, we already defeated the nearest competitor by 2,600,000 votes. I believe that this number will increase significantly in the final results. We do not know if the president is determined in the first round … If our people will make their choice in favor in the second round of the election, “He will be. We believe we will end this tour with a result of more than 50 percent of the vote,” Erdogan said, speaking from the balcony of the Justice and Development Party headquarters in Ankara.

As reported, if none of the candidates receive more than 50% of the votes in the first round, the second round will be announced, which will take place on May 28.

It will be remembered that on Sunday, May 14, Erdogan gave money to children at the polling station in one of the secondary schools in Istanbul.
