At a meeting in Brussels, the leaders of both countries agreed on further steps to establish borders.
The leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to continue negotiations on the delimitation of borders and the normalization of relations between the countries. This was said by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
It was noted that during the meeting in Brussels through the EU, the leaders of the countries confirmed their desire to achieve peace in the North Caucasus.
“The positive results of the peace talks, previously held in the United States, will receive a new impetus so that Azerbaijan and Armenia can sign a comprehensive peace agreement, said the President of the European Council,” said Michel.
On the issue of borders, the leaders agreed on additional measures to limit them, in particular, the continuation of bilateral negotiations on this issue. The parties confirmed the recognition of the Almaty Declaration, confirming the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The specified delimitation of the borders will be determined through negotiations.
As reported, in early May, the US State Department said that representatives of Azerbaijan and Armenia made significant progress as a result of negotiations in Washington.
It will be remembered that Armenian President Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia and Azerbaijan can conclude a peace agreement if the two countries recognize each other’s territorial integrity.
