The Office of the President announced a list of topics discussed by the leaders of Ukraine and France, in particular, the provision of military assistance to protect the skies of Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a meeting with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, spoke about France’s military aid, its participation in the “fighter coalition” and Ukraine’s entry into NATO. This was announced on Monday, May 15, by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The priority issue is France’s provision of military assistance to Ukraine, especially the priority needs to strengthen defense capabilities and protect the Ukrainian sky.
“Practical cooperation with the French Republic was discussed to strengthen the potential of the Ukrainian defense forces, which is necessary for an effective counteroffensive and the liberation of the occupied territories,” the publication said.
In addition, Zelensky expressed hope that France will support the countries’ joint decision on a “fighter coalition”.
The presidents also discussed issues of cooperation for the effective implementation of the Ukrainian formula for peace.
“The Ukrainian head of state expressed his hope to be attracted to the Global Peace Summit to be held this year, with the participation of as many countries of the world as possible, especially the states of the Global South. Thanked Emmanuel Macron for his diplomatic efforts aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine and achieving a just peace based on the Ukrainian formula for peace,” the message reads.
The issue of France’s support for Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration was also discussed. It was noted that Zelensky specifically mentioned that Ukraine is waiting for specific political decisions of the Vilnius NATO summit in response to Ukraine’s application for membership in the Alliance.
It will be recalled that Macron promised to provide some battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with armored vehicles and light tanks.
As reported, on Sunday evening, Zelensky arrived from Germany in France, where he met with Macron.
