The incident took place in the village of Nangal, where an industrial enterprise is located. According to preliminary data, children suffered due to the influence of ammonia.
In the northern Indian state of Punjab, at least 25 students were hospitalized on May 12 after a gas leak from a nearby factory. This was reported by Xinhua News Agency.
The incident took place in Nangal village.
“30 students and a teacher at the public school were taken to the hospital after complaining of suffocation. Five children have already been discharged, and 25 are under the supervision of doctors,” said the representative of the local authority.
The school where the children were studying was temporarily closed. An investigation is ongoing, with preliminary evidence pointing to an ammonia leak from the National Fertilizer Limited (NFL) plant.
It was earlier reported that chemical gas had poisoned students at a girls’ school in Iran’s Kurdistan province.
