This was announced today, May 11, by the press service of the Kyiv City Council.
This became possible thanks to a letter signed last year between the capitals of Poland and Ukraine on the donation of 60 decommissioned cars of the Warsaw Metro,” Klitschko said.
According to him, the received cars belong to the rolling stock of series No. 717, which is also operated in the Kiev metro. Therefore, they will primarily be used as technical donors for overhauls of the existing rolling stock.
For the Kyiv metro, this is a significant help, since 80% of the rolling stock is of Soviet production. Similar cars are also operated in the Warsaw Metro. This help from our Polish friends will ensure the uninterrupted operation of the Kyiv Metro, the safety of train traffic and the safe transportation of passengers, Klitschko notes.
In total, Kyiv expects to receive 60 wagons in stages over the course of a year.
