NATO plans to open its first Asian communications office in Tokyo to consult with Japan and key regional partners.
Japanese Ambassador to the US Koji Tommita said Japan is working on opening a NATO Liaison Office in Tokyo, which could be the Alliance’s first office in Asia. He said this at an event organized by the National Press Club in Washington, CNA reports.
“This is one of the things we are working on to strengthen our partnership,” the Japanese ambassador said.
It will be noted that NATO plans to open the first communication office in Asia in Tokyo next year to consult with Japan and key partners in the region such as South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, as China becomes a new challenge alongside of Russia.
It was previously reported that the United States is ready to send troops to Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion.
