Police detained 52 people for disorderly conduct and conspiracy to cause harm to the public.
In London, during the coronation of Charles III, the police detained 52 people, including the leader of the anti-monarchist group the Republic. Reuters wrote this on Sunday, May 7.
Hundreds of yellow-clad demonstrators gathered in a 10-kilometre line that lined the procession route in central London. They chose yellow to stand out from those wearing red, white and blue. Anti-monarchists held banners reading Not My King.
The Republican organization said law enforcement officers detained their leader Graham Smith before the march began. Law enforcement officials themselves do not confirm this.
“We fully understand the public’s concern following the arrests we made this morning. A major police operation was carried out in the last 24 hours after we received information that protesters were determined to disrupt the procession of coronation,” the police said.
Remember that on May 6, Charles III was crowned in Great Britain. The ceremony was attended by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and Prime Minister Denys Shmihal.
