It was because of the uncontrolled flight of this UAV, which stopped responding to the operator’s commands, that an air alert was announced in Kyiv and the Kyiv region on May 4. He was forced to shoot down, because there were no other options. On May 5, the speaker of the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, said this on the air of the national telethon.
Yes, it was a drone… Our Bayraktor. Pity the bird. It is clear that we lost them already at the front. To do so to say very much from this is such news… Well, it happens. Yes, I lost control. This is a technique. Well, what can you do. Don’t let it all go by itself. It was necessary to simply neutralize it, and that’s all, ”he noted.
According to Ignat, experts have yet to establish why communication with Bayraktar was lost.
The speaker added that, in fact, the UAV was flying quite high over Kiev yesterday, but the sky is deceivingly giving an idea of aerial targets.
Recall that on Thursday evening, May 4, in the sky over Kiev, during an air raid, not a Russian UAV was shot down, but a Ukrainian strike drone of Turkish production Bayraktar. The Ukrainian defenders were forced to shoot down the drone because they lost control over it during a planned flight.
