For the first time, such a large loan is provided under the European Union guarantee, without the Ukraine state guarantee.
Ukraine signed a record agreement for the purchase of gas – covering 500 million euros. It was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko on Telegram on Wednesday, August 13.
“Naftogaz and the EBRD have signed a record agreement for Ukraine – 500 million euros for the purchase of gas. This is the largest bank project in our country,” he wrote.
According to Sviridenko, the most important thing is that at the first time such a loan is provided under the EU guarantee, without the Ukraine state guarantee.
“This will allow Ukraine to prepare for the heat season and provide Ukrainian homes with heat and light even on the hardest winter days,” the head of government explained and expressed gratitude to the EBRR and the EU for support.
Meanwhile, Naftogaz said they would buy gas in competitive conditions from more than 30 pre -qualified suppliers based on contracts that have been completed in accordance with the standards of the European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET). This organization unites more than 120 European companies and aims to increase the transparency and efficiency of the European energy market, which promotes competition and ensures reliable energy supply.
As reported, this year Ukraine began to pump gas against the back of a low -ground storage record. In addition, the situation is complicated due to the regular attacks of Russian invaders in gas facilities.
But in early August, it was learned that the situation was improving, and the import of gas in Ukraine had reached a maximum for two years.
