The Belgian government is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine. This was announced on May 4 by Prime Minister Alexander de Croo at a joint press conference in The Hague with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte.
“The Belgian government is preparing a new package of military aid to Ukraine. And as you may know, there are some practical difficulties with such military packages. But there is no doubt in the soul, or even in the thoughts of Belgians, that this support must be continued,” he said. de Croo.
For his part, the President of Ukraine called on Belgium and the Netherlands to speed up the supply of armored vehicles and aircraft to Ukraine.
“We really want to get what was promised to our country as soon as possible. I call on Belgium and the Netherlands to join the early deliveries, in particular, by concluding an agreement to speed up the supply of new weapons. Talked we with the leaders of northern European countries, as well as other countries. They are fully and completely ready to create such a coalition for the transfer of armored vehicles. We also really need modern aircraft of military,” Zelensky stressed.
He also stressed that Ukraine should be part of the EU and NATO.
“We are ready to join the further strengthening of NATO. Ukraine must become a legal part of this Alliance,” the head of state added.
Earlier it was reported that Belgium has frozen a record amount of Russian assets – 58 billion euros.
