In Bakhmut, battles are fought for every high-rise building, and sometimes even for the entrance. The defense forces continue to control the city’s supply routes.
This was told by the commander of the 93 OMB “Cold Yar” Pavel Palisa. According to him, when, after the rotation in January, the military entered Bakhmut again, it seemed that it would be possible to keep it for only a few weeks.
But four months have passed, and we are still here. The heavy defense of Bakhmut gives our newly created units time to prepare for the upcoming counter-offensives, he told the Military Media Center.
Meanwhile, General Alexander Syrsky is again in the Bakhmut direction. The commander of the Ground Forces believes that the actions of the Ukrainian military break all the enemy’s forecasts regarding Bakhmut. And he says that the defense of the city allows you to prepare reserves.
I first visited Bakhmut in 2014, I still remember what a beautiful city it was. Not “depressive” at all. Now it has been razed to the ground. Now the struggle is for every high-rise building, and sometimes for every entrance. If this helps save other Ukrainian cities – Slavyansk, Konstantinovka, Kramatorsk – we must fight. Also, the heavy defense of Bakhmut gives time to our newly created units to train and prepare for the upcoming counter-offensive actions, Palisa believes.
