For the first time in history, Ukraine organized trainings and seminars for African diplomats dealing with European and Ukrainian issues from their ministries of foreign affairs.
Six African countries have expressed interest in opening Ukrainian diplomatic missions on their territories. This was announced on Monday, May 1, by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba on the air of the telethon.
“We have already received permission from six African countries to open embassies. This is the first step where everything begins. We are actively seeking and are already at an advanced stage in identifying future ambassadors to these countries, ” said Kuleba.
He did not specify which African countries he was talking about. But he added that in parallel, the diplomatic department of Ukraine for the first time in history organizes trainings and seminars for African diplomats dealing with European and Ukrainian issues.
“In this way, we soak them in our point of view and help them better understand what is happening, and, accordingly, take a more favorable position,” said Kuleba.
The head of diplomacy emphasized that the cooperation between Ukraine and Africa has been active and Kyiv not only strengthens its presence on the other continent, but also actively involves diplomats from African countries in public and political life in the country.
It will be remembered that the media previously said that Russia wants to increase its influence in the poor countries of Africa in order to fight the Western states from their territory.
In addition, Kuleba said on February 3 that Russia is facing two “unfortunate surprises” in the African diplomatic field. In particular, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was not allowed on the territory of the two countries.
