The United States supports Ukraine’s entry into NATO, but at the current stage, the attention of the White House is focused on supporting our state in countering Russian aggression. This was announced on Monday, May 1, by US State Department Deputy Speaker Vedant Patel in a video briefing.
“We support NATO’s open door policy,” a State Department spokesman said.
“But now the main focus is on supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. Russia does not respect the basic laws of the UN Charter regarding territorial integrity and sovereignty. Therefore, we will continue to focus on it,” he insisted.
Patel noted that the decision on Ukraine’s membership in the organization will be made jointly by all countries of the Alliance.
